Jewish Voice for Labour
Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL) was founded in 2017 as a network for Jewish members of the Labour Party, united in their support for justice and human rights embedded in progressive Jewish traditions.
JVL has been at the forefront of attempts to develop understanding of antisemitism - prejudice, hostility or hatred towards Jews as Jews - as part of a broad movement to combat racist threats which are growing in our society, in particular from the far right. JVL stands up against the deployment of allegations of antisemitism as a factional tool in disputes within the Labour party and, increasingly, in other institutions including universities.
JVL’s Jewishness is defined not in relation to Zionism and “the Jewish state” but by its connection to a radical history, supporting rights and justice for Jewish people everywhere, and opposing wrongs and injustice to Palestinians and other oppressed people anywhere."
