We are thrilled to announce the relaunch of the Verso Podcast, a platform where radical thinkers engage in lively conversations about the issues that matter most. With our new regular fortnightly schedule, we are excited to bring you more episodes featuring exciting guests, insightful discussions and fresh perspectives on the most pressing issues of our time.
At the helm of the Verso Podcast is our new host, Eleanor Penny, a writer and journalist whose work focuses on social justice, popular culture, and political theory.
Our first episode, Against Nature, is out now, just in time for World Earth Day. In this episode, Raj Patel, an author, filmmaker and academic, and Tina Ngata, a Maori activist and human rights advocate, join Eleanor to discuss the connections between colonialism, environmental destruction, and the ongoing fight for climate justice.
Our second episode, The Cult of Churchill, features Professor Priyamvada Gopal and Tariq Ali discussing into the life and legacy of Winston Churchill. As the UK prepares for the coronation of King Charles III, this episode offers a timely exploration of the historical realities that the Churchill industry has worked to conceal for so long. It is a call to confront the painful and uncomfortable truths of the British Empire's past – and its ongoing influence on the world today.
But that's just the beginning. In the coming months, we have a lineup of exciting guests and topics that we can't wait to share with you. This includes Professor Ruth Wilson Gilmore in conversation with Dalia Gebrial about abolitionist politics, and Robin DG Kelley and Kevin Ochieng Okoth discuss the life and work of Walter Rodney—a revolutionary thinker and activist whose ideas continue to inspire anti-colonial struggles around the world.
Our guests bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, and we can't wait to hear what they have to say. Whether we're discussing climate justice, the history of colonialism, or the intersection of race, class, and capitalism, the Verso Podcast is the place for critical conversations and fresh perspectives.
