Five T-shirts and three books to win!

To celebrate International Women's Day this week, the self-styled “sporting outfitters of intellectual distinction,” aka www.philosophyfootball.com, launch their Emily Wilding Davison Centenary T-shirts. One hundred years ago Emily stepped on to the racecourse at Epsom to stop the 1913 Derby for the cause of female suffrage. This heroic yet fatal act was without doubt the single most striking event of all the years of militant suffragette protest.

Using the original colors of the Suffragette movement, purple, green and white, Philosophy Football's design has created a modern roundel; wear it with pride remembering the 'deeds not words' philosophy that inspired the Suffragettes and continue to inspire activists today.

We have five of the T-shirts to be won in our March competition, with one lucky winner also getting a copy of Nancy Fraser's new book, Fortunes of Feminism plus Sheila Rowbotham's magnificent account of feminist history, Dreamers of a New Day and her presentation of Mary Wollestonecraft's A Vindication of the Rights of Woman.

To enter answer this simple question: In 1918 women in Britain were finally given the vote but only for those aged over 30. In which year did women's suffrage finally reach parity when the vote was extended to all women over the age of 21, the same as for men?

Email your answer with your full name, address and preferred T-shirt size to admin@philosophyfootball.com No purchase necessary to enter, entries close 31 March  2013.
