A sneak peek at what we have coming up in 2015….

Many thanks for all your support during our December 50% off sale, and 90% off ebook sale! We hope you enjoy all your new books.

As we look ahead to an exciting new year of publishing we wanted to share with you some books to look out for this Spring.

We kick off what will be a very feminist year for us with our new Feminist Radical Thinkers, featuring Michèle Barrett and Mary McIntosh (The Anti-Social Family), Lynne Segal (Straight Sex: Rethinking the Politics of Pleasure), Sheila Rowbotham (Woman’s Consciousness, Man’s World) and Juliet Mitchell (Woman’s Estate).

In April we publish a new edition of Shulamith Firestone's The Dialectic of Sex: The Case for Feminist Revolution - an iconic second-wave feminist theory of politics. Christine Delphy - one of the few French feminists to speak out against the French ban on the veil in 2011 - looks at how mainstream feminism has been mobilized in support of racist measures in Dominating Others: Feminism and Racism after the War on Terror.

Our new Feminist Classics series kicks off with Black Macho and the Myth of the Superwoman by Michele Wallace and Beyond the Pale: White Woman, Racism and History by Vron Ware.

New books in the Jacobin series (launched last year with Playing the Whore, Utopia or Bust and Strike for America) include a takedown of the new prophets of profit and an exploration of our future utopias and dystopias through a science fiction lens.

In Letters to Palestine writers including Junot Diaz and Teju Cole respond to the war in intimate letters, essays and poems. Also publishing in February, Palestine Speaks is a collection of firsthand accounts of life in Gaza and the West Bank, including eyewitness accounts of the most recent attacks in Gaza. Later in the year Ghada Karmi follows up her best-selling In Search of Fatima with an extraordinary memoir of exile in Return: A Palestinian Memoir.

Hard-hitting political critiques include The Rise of Islamic State: ISIS and the New Sunni Revolution by Patrick Cockburn, and The Extreme Centre - an eviscerating attack on the indistinguishable political elite of the UK by Tariq Ali. Internationally acclaimed author of The Kindly Ones, Jonathan Littell, presents a blistering firsthand account of the conflict in Homs in Syrian Notebooks and Andrew Cockburn reveals the technology, politics, and secrecy behind remote control killing in Kill Chain: Drones and the Rise of High-Tech Assassins.

The Wikileaks Files: The World According to US Empire is the first volume using experts to collate and analyze the most important cables and show their historic importance. An essential book for anyone interested in America’s role in the world and the history of the twenty-first century.

Why has well-being become the new religion of our age? The Happiness Industry dissects how government and big business have sold us well-being, revealing an extension of hyper-capitalism designed to invade every domain of our existence.

Before the age of the gas lamp, the city at night was a different place, home to the lost, the licentious, and the insomniac. In Night Walking: A Nocturnal History of London, Matthew Beaumont shines a light on the dark perambulations of poets, novelists, and thinkers from Shakespeare, to the ecstatic strolls of William Blake, the feverish urges of opium addict De Quincey, as well as the master nightwalker, Charles Dickens.

The Last Soldiers of the Cold War: The Story of the Cuban Five is a real-life spy saga from the US/Cuba Cold War by internationally best-selling author Fernando Morais.

Meanwhile, fans of Raymond Williams need look no further than Politics and Letters! A collection of his interviews with New Left Review.

Two new graphic novels cover real-life intrigue, disappearances and murders. La Lucha, tells the story of front-line human rights defender Lucha Castro fighting murderous impunity in the Mexican borderlands, and Operation Ajax: The Story of the CIA Coup that Remade the Middle East is a graphic true-life spy thriller about the CIA mission that overthrew Iran’s democracy.

But! this is just a selection of some of the books we are publishing this year! To see the full list check out our Spring 2015 catalogue.
